"The microwave and I are suppose to be friends."
In the small amount of time that I was freaking out about whether to create a blog or not and attempting to soften a hard brownie, somehow I managed to fill my apartment full of smoke...
I made brownies yesterday (side note: I think it was the first time I've used our oven since I moved in) to take to my "FHE brothers" so I could meet the 2 that I haven't met yet, even though it's been over a month since school started. (They are engaged though-so they might as well not exist...) I, being the genius that I am, forgot to cover the brownies before I went to bed and did not remember until I was in class this morning kicking myself. Tonight Bethany, realized my folly and attempted to salvage them by hacking them to death with a spatula. (Oh, excuse me, a 'turner' as they're properly called-my cooking class made me realize I've been living a lie.)
Since my attention was drawn to the brownies, I HAD to eat one. Sadly, they were not very soft so I decided to put mine in the microwave to try and soften it. I left the kitchen area for a few moments, probably to watch part of an engagement video (yes, I have a problem. I love cute couple pictures and anything similar. But an engagemnt VIDEO?! I didn't even know those existed! It was so adorable, I must get one when I get married!) with my roommate Whitney.
When I returned to the kitchen I was greeted by a microwave full of smoke! I opened the microwave door and the smoke poured out while I shouted idiotic things like "my brownie is on fire!" The entire apartment instantly smelled like burning popcorn or something similarly foul and my roommates (and my roommate's boyfriend, aka my extra roommate) realized something was amiss. The brownie was bubbling from within and continued smoking for quite some time. We flung open the front door and a window to let the smoke escape, in fear that the fire alarm was going to go off. Luckily, it didn't. That would've been horrible and hilarious if it had though.
In the end, my brownie wasn't even any better tasting.
